What to expect

All of our trips start with a Zoom call so that we can get to know you better and tailor the perfect day for you.
Our Katana Sword-making experience starts with the master swordsmith explaining the raw materials and equipment you will be using. Next, we will go into his collection room to discuss the type of sword you would like to forge. There were many different styles of swords crafted and used throughout Japanese history, choose the one that excites you the most! After you have chosen the type of blade and how to decorate it, it's finally time to start heating up the raw Tamahagane metal! From here you will spend the next 9 hours with the master blade smith crafting forging, hammering, shaving, shaping, and sharpening your very own traditional Japanese Sword. Over the next few weeks, your blade will be passed between several of the local Katana-related shops to be decorated and perfected. Once it is ready, the master blade smith will issue a license for your sword so that it can travel internationally as a piece of art and not a weapon. This ensures that your sword will have no problem being imported.
